We recommend that you contact the Rotherham Low Vision Clinic if you have previously been assessed there, as they can provide magnifiers on loan free of charge. Local Information - Organisations that help the visually impaired
Action 4 Blind are a charity providing support for those living with sight loss. They provide info and support on everyday living with sight impairment, eye health, technology & information on career development and education. The website includes a list of vision hotels, that understand the additional needs of those with a visual impairment. Rothercare is a telephone-based system which you can use to summon help, call assistance, or give you reassurance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The main role of the Rothercare service is to obtain help for an elderly or disabled person when an emergency arises. Rothercare is connected to a control centre where there is always a control operator on duty to respond immediately. This operator is also supported by a mobile response service.
